Part-time Marketing and Social Media Manager

About Us

The Takoma/Langley Crossroads Development Authority is a well-established organization with nearly forty years of dedicated service in the City of Takoma Park MD. Our mission revolves around enhancing the overall economic vitality and quality of life within our community. With a recent change in leadership, our organization is undergoing a transformative phase led by a dynamic new Executive Director. As we embark on a journey towards rebranding and restructuring, we are seeking an experienced and proactive Marketing and Social Media Manager to develop and execute social media strategies to promote our brand, increase engagement, and drive traffic to our website.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage all social media platforms, including Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram. Develop and implement a social media strategy, create social media posts, engage with community members online and respond to enhance the organization’s online presence.
  • Maintain and update the organization’s website, suggesting and implementing improvements to enhance user experience and content relevance.
    Work closely with staff to produce and format a monthly newsletter via MailChimp, ensuring it effectively communicates the organization’s activities, achievements, and needs.
    Promote other organizational publications, including press releases, publicity materials, and year-end reports, to ensure consistent and impactful messaging.
  • Work closely with business owners and community partners to highlight their stories.
  • Ensure brand consistency in all internal and external communications.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Nonprofit Management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in communications, preferably within the nonprofit sector.
  • Strong proficiency in social media management, website maintenance, and email marketing tools (e.g., MailChimp, CRM databases, WordPress).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Bilingual abilities are preferred.

Community Outreach Coordinator & Executive Assistant

As we embark on a journey towards rebranding and restructuring, we are seeking an experienced and proactive Executive Assistant to support the Executive Director in achieving organizational sustainability and growth.

Responsibilities

1. Operations Support:

  • Manage day-to-day administrative tasks to ensure the smooth functioning of the office.
  • Coordinate and schedule meetings, appointments, and travel arrangements for the Executive Director.

2. Business Engagement:

  • Foster and maintain positive relationships with local businesses and stakeholders.
  • Act as a liaison between the Executive Director and external partners, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.

3. Social Media Management & Marketing Support:

  • Develop and execute social media strategies to enhance the organization’s online presence.
  • Monitor and engage with the community through various social media platforms
  • Collaborate on marketing materials, including newsletters, press releases, and promotional content.
  • Ensure brand consistency in all internal and external communications.

4. Strategic Planning:

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of strategic initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director in setting organizational goals and objectives.

5. Fundraising Assistance:

  • Support the planning and execution of fundraising events and campaigns.
  • Assist in maintaining donor relationships and managing donor databases.

6. Advocacy and Community Organizing:

  • Assist in advocating for the organization’s mission and goals within the community.
  • Collaborate with community groups and organizations to organize events and initiatives that align with the organization’s objectives.

7. Research and Analysis:

  • Conduct research on relevant topics, trends, and best practices to support decision-making.
  • Analyze data and prepare reports to assist the Executive Director in making informed choices.

8. Project Management:

  • Manage special projects assigned by the Executive Director, ensuring timely and successful completion.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams and monitor project timelines.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as an Executive Assistant or in a similar role.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in social media management and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work independently and handle confidential information with discretion.

 

Preferences:

  • Bilingualism in Spanish is heavily preferred.
