“I find myself not exploring the MoCo Caribbean scene as much since I grew up on PG, but that’s changing. Caribbean Market is a staple in Takoma Park that has been around forever. When you enter, the first thing you see straight ahead is the restaurant where you can order… and it’s surrounded by market! It’s full of Caribbean drinks, fresh meats, imported products and much more. I didn’t explore in full, but I found myself in an aisle of sauces and seasonings. I grabbed some scotch bonnet sauces — some were only $1.50, like omg! Grabbed a peanut punch too.
I got roti from the restaurant — specifically, dhal puri and curry goat. They only sell the roti skin separately, and they heat it up for you upon request. It was SO GOOD. I also got an order of doubles that was great, though I was missing that subtle sweetness from the tamarind. I’m sure I could’ve asked for some if I went back in, but I didn’t mind.” 5 Star Yelp Review
